Odbočka od kopřiv, s kusem merina jsem si vyzkoušela předení na tureckém vřetánku. Baví mě, že po dopředení může člověk vřetánko rozebrat a má rovnou klubko. Až ještě trochu přibude, bude líp vidět, proč se klubku navinutému na ramenech říká želvička.
Omluvte sníženou kvalitu obrazu, fotila jsem to večer bramborou. Za sníženou kvalitu příze se neomlouvám, na tom se pracuje.

@haloedrain I had to re-draw that circle several times just to find the right balance of highlighting the mistake but not disrupting the pattern so much as to make the overall pattern difficult to read. 😁
I can imagine that pottery is especially good at teaching you not to attach yourself to a piece before it's through the last firing. So many little bits that aren't 100% in your control.

@consumablejoy Heh. I had considered something like that, but it's perfect now as it is. 😁 Including that reminder of an influential former teacher.
Now that I've been wearing it, the design is getting fuzzier and that one stitch doesn't pop out to my eye. Sometimes I have to work to find it! I'm sure no one else will know it's there other than me.
Stepping back and accepting someone isn't perfect is a very important skill, if it's sometimes hard to acquire it.
Good for your to get to that point!

Co to je? Lýko z devíti kopřiv.
Kde se to tu vzalo? Na podzim jsem je sklidila a dneska strávila kus odpoledne loupáním.
K čemu je to dobré? Obsahuje textilní vlákno, které se dá upříst a pak z toho něco vyrobit. Nejdřív to ale bude chtít ještě trochu (hodně) zpracovat, aby se vlákna oddělila.
Umíš to? Už jsem to jednou zkusila a vyrobila takový chlupatý provázek. Zkusím se polepšit.

Vidíte tu změnu? Dneska jsem lýko rozvolnila, víceméně jen tím, že jsem svazek přetahovala přes hranu dřevěného prkénka. Většina přebytečného materiálu se postupně oddrolila, zbytky tam ještě zůstaly. Při pohledu zblízka jsou vidět jednotlivá jemná vlákna.
Včera jsem nevydržela a i když vlákna nebyla ještě úplně čistá, pročesala jsem je kartáčem. Spousta nežádoucího materiálu opadala, dost ale ještě zůstalo na vláknech. Uvidím, jestli s tím budu ještě zkoušet něco provádět, upříst už to asi půjde i takhle. (Svůj minulý pokus nemám dobře zdokumentovaný, ale myslím, že to bylo o dost horší.)
Krabička s vyčesanými zbytky není odpad, dneska jsem z ní vyčesala spoustu dalších vláken, o něco kratších, ale pořád použitelných, a ještě budu pokračovat. (Vyfocené je nemám, byla už tma.)

One of my highlights of yesterday's Mapping USA online conference was osm.kids, a map using #OpenStreetMap that's made for #children! If you're zoomed in, it highlights things like playgrounds, fire stations, schools and ice cream shops.
When you zoom out, you see city and country names and flags so you can learn all about those!
It is so creative and I love it. osm.kids demonstrates so well that you can make maps with OSM that you cannot make with any other map tools out there.

Právě jsem v dokumentaci přepsala všechny výskyty slova "naleznete" na "najdete".
Jako jo, uznávám, že tam mám mnohem zásadnější (a časově náročnější) problémy k řešení, ale takhle mám aspoň pocit, že to mluví o fousek lidštějc.
V téhle podobě zatím jen na mém počítači. 😁

Douglas Adams once said something, answering a question from a fan about whether Arthur Dent was a “hero”, and whether the Hitchhiker stories were “gaily whimsical” or cynical. The whole thing won't fit here (see: shreevatsa.net/post/douglas-ad…) but quoting the main part:

Cast off time!
The beanie has sat almost finished since November; I dropped a stitch then and because I was also working on Christmas gifts, I put the beanie aside until a quieter time.
The sock is a more complicated story: I wanted to do something like northern lights, bought the yarn that resembled them, but my original pattern idea didn't work out: the colours were too dark in places to contrast with black. This is a much simpler pattern and it sort of works, but only in good light. 😀
The black yarn used for the beanie was originally meant for these socks too but I bought 100% merino by mistake, so I swapped it out for a sturdier one (hopefully).

Prošla jsem svůj letošní čtenářský deník a vypadá to, že jsem přečetla 8 knih, z čehož ty zajímavější byly finsky, takže vás asi nebudu zatěžovat detaily.
Kromě toho jsem ale zaznamenala zhruba 110 povídek (a to nepočítám dalších třicet, které jsem hodnotila do soutěže Vidoucí). Tady je pár zajímavých (všechny anglicky, k dispozici volně na webu, bez pořadí):
- Anna Burdenko: Pollen (Pomalu kolabující základna na cizí planetě plné nebezpečného pylu, a do všeho kecají mrtví příbuzní.)
- Daryl Gregory: I’m Not Disappointed Just Mad AKA The Heaviest Couch in the Known Universe (Věčně zhulený mladík a stěhování obřího kanape během invaze z kosmu.)
- Catherynne M. Valente: When He Calls Your Name (Venkov Spojených států, duchařina a jedna hezká paralela.)
- Elizabeth Bear: Red Mother a The Witch and the Wyrm (Povídky č. 2 a 3 z volně navazující série, první jsem ještě nečetla, ale fungují i tak. Vikingský potulný dobrodruh, který čaruje tím, že přede vlákno, ale většinu situací stejně nakonec řeší jinak.)

@unterwasser já jsem v tomhle víc na straně Another brick in the wall od Pink Floyd. Můžu se jen domýšlet, co ze mě mohlo být, kdybych dostal v dětství šanci na nějaký jiný vzdělávací systém... mohlo to skončit hůř, ale třeba taky líp, kdo ví. Každopádně mi nedokázali moc zaujmout.
A schopnost udržet pozornost v dospělosti stejně žádnou nemám, takže nevím. Je moje ADHD navzdory, nebo díky systému základního školství?
Každopádně jedna věc je, že vpustit na děti algoritmus soutěžení o pozornost sociálních sítí je určitě zlo. Úplně jiná pak zamezování individuální komunikaci, která není "pod dohledem" takových těch vůdčích osobností kolektivu...
Včerejší #sen: Seděla jsem s dvěma kamarádkami a obě střídavě vyprávěly o svých trablích se studiem. Já jen účastně naslouchala, protože jsem měla už vystudováno.
No vážně! Sen o době studií, ve kterém nezjišťuju, co jsem zapomněla odevzdat a kde mám příští hodinu! A ještě mám kamarádky!
Dnešní sen mě vrátil do standardu: Jela jsem několik hodin autobusem do jiného města na akci, kterou jsem chtěla večer navštívit, a teprv cestou zjistila, že se koná až za tři dny.
Letos jsem se rozhodl číst víc v češtině, díky čemuž jsem objevil Algor — úplně boží českou sci-fi ságu. A teď bude i jako audioknížka! 🤗
